“Heirloom Carrier was born from a love of holding my babies close. I’m a wife and mother, first and foremost, but I’m also a memory keeper. I always gravitate to quality goods that can be kept and passed down, which is what I hope for my ring slings. There are so many memories attached to wearing our babies…the touches and sensations we never want to forget and the sense of being so close and cuddled up tight. These ring slings are something you can keep as a memento, something to be passed down for when our babies have babies.”
—Melissa Curman, founder of Heirloom
Heirloom Carrier is a Canadian babywearing company that makes all products locally in Vancouver, BC. They offer ring slings in different fabrics and different support levels. Their colour options are truly beautiful with solids and patterns available, designed with colour-forecasted trends perfect for each season.
My favourite slings from Melissa’s collection are a collaboration between Heirloom Carrier and fibre artist, Jolynn Vandam. Each piece is custom-made and hand-dyed from local plants and botanicals. Each hand-dyed sling is uniquely made and different in colour, shade, and pattern, and no two are alike, making them incredibly special. The botanical print on linen fabric paired with the gold rings creates a romantic and feminine result.
Heirloom Carrier ring slings are perfect from newborn to toddler. When you babywear, it helps develop a special bond with your child while allowing you to be completely hands-free. These carriers are devoted to your baby’s safety. Each ring sling is tested by a third-party lab and is certified with both Canadian and American safety regulations. They meet all applicable American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards and are compliant with the Canadian Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA) and the US Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA).
I am always impressed with how a brand stands behind its values, and Heirloom Carrier does just that, taking pride in each sling. They are comfortable, supportive, and made with sustainable fabrics such as linen, silk, hemp, and cotton. Melissa even uses the leftover materials to provide your child with the chance to try babywearing on their own with their favourite baby doll or stuffed animal! This collection is called Little Looms and is available here.
Heirloom Carrier ring slings are made by a mother that truly cares and is devoted to every detail.
