Exclusive interview with Mother Muse and fitness model

Sarah Stage

Could you describe yourself in one sentence?

I always think it’s easier to describe others than myself! But I would say that I’m loving, tenacious and thoughtful.

What was your childhood like?

My parents gave me a wonderful childhood filled with lots of love and special memories which I hope to give to my boys as well!

What was your life like before motherhood?

Life before motherhood included more sleep and less clutter! Life is more carefree when you aren’t a parent but becoming a mother gave me a meaning to life and showed me a deeper love and purpose that I didn’t even know was possible.

Describe the word woman in your own words:

A woman handles her responsibilities, loves herself and others. Never tries to bring down anyone and makes the best out of any situation.

How did motherhood impact your career in fitness?

It has allowed me to share my fitness tips with other pregnant women who I believe really trust me since I have had 2 healthy children while remaining active during my pregnancies.

You are an advocate for women celebrating their bodies and reaching their healthy fitness goals.

Yes! I hope I can show women how to love themselves no matter how they look. Obviously, self love always starts from within. Taking the time out to treat yourself with care and kindness too. That includes making healthy changes to your lifestyle. I want to help women reach their fitness goals because being healthy is the best gift you can give yourself and your children. Working out and feeling good makes us better moms!

You gave birth to a healthy beautiful baby boy! After your experience with body shaming in your pregnancy what do you hope other women will gain from this?

Body shaming is never wanted or acceptable at any time. Pregnant or not! I am BEYOND against cyber bullying and wish more could be done to prosecute internet trolls. Sometimes though, I feel sorry for the people that write those rude comments. They really must be so unhappy, insecure and bored to spend some much time harassing myself and others online. Imagine all of the other productive things they could be doing to better their lives! With my second pregnancy, I really grew a deeper inner strength because I chose to stay positive and listen to my body and my Doctors input, and not random online trolls. It does feel great to have given birth to another healthy baby boy which proves that you can be fit while pregnant too.

Can you tell us about c section recovery?

This time around my c section recovery was a bit longer than my first. The first week home was the hardest for me because it was painful to walk around and go to doctor appointments etc. My doctor instructed me to rest as much as possible… with a toddler its almost impossible but I tried to be patient and take it easy. I am just now slowly getting back into my fitness routine.

What are your favourite skin and beauty products?

I have so many!! I’m using a lot of PCA skin products at the moment, I love their hyaluronic acid serum, it seems to help with getting a glow and plumping my skin. They also have a great eye cream that’s gel and i love their nutrient toner too. Glycelene is another fav of mined. They have a stem-c mist that gives you instant glowing skin and smells delicious like tangerines! I’m always trying new products though.

What did you think of motherhood before you became a mother?

I honestly had no idea what to expect. You hear so many stories from other moms but we each have our own personal journey and I was so excited and curious to experience motherhood.

Did you struggle with postpartum?

I struggle with the balance of being a good mom to my sons, handling my career and trying to be a great a wife, sister, friend, daughter etc. I know it takes time to figure it all out and try not to be too hard on myself. Having a great support system has really helped me stay sane. There are moments where I feel overwhelmed but having stress outlets really help. Even a bubble bath and a glass of wine can be the solution.

What core values do you want to teach your children?

to be humble and respectful.

to believe in yourself.

work hard be passionate about what you do.

Family first no matter what.

above all, I just want them to know that they are loved unconditionally.

What is your favorite activity to do with your oldest son?

I love cuddling up with him and reading him a book because I know he won’t want to cuddle forever.

You feel most beautiful when?

I feel most beautiful when I’ve had time to relax and pamper myself.

When you get a quiet moment, what do you like to do the most?

There’s not a lot of quiet moments these days but i just love cuddling next to logan and James when they are napping. Having your baby sleep on you is the best feeling in the world.

Who is your Mother Muse?

I look up to Jessica Alba. Love that she’s an entrepreneur and a mom.
